uilding Facades - Cleaned and Washed using High Pressure Hot Water. Why do we use HOT WATER ?
If we use hot water the heat helps to losson much of the dirt and grime, thus we can uses less pressure – Pressure can do damage to the structure as many “cowboys” have found out by blasting off the dirt by removing part of the surface with it !
This type of care is even more important when cleaning Stone Buildings, Stone Facades and all types of Masonry work be it Brick, Limestone, Sandstone or Concrete.
Because we can clean so efficiently we can use less water and less pressure than just a cold water machine, which means we preserve water and we clean without damaging fragile surfaces such as the pointing or limestone.
Buildings in cities like London can suffer from the more serious effects years of atmospheric pollution. Brick and Stone can become stained black with carbon, either darkening the appearance of the entire building or creating unsightly and uneven patches on the façade. Water and detergent alone will not remove these stains.
We can easily wash away common surface grime from masonry surfaces with hot water or steam under pressure as the degree of carbon staining varies greatly between buildings we always view sites before providing a quotation. A test area is sometimes necessary and best.
Some surfaces of stone and brickwork may need the use of specialist chemicals that dissolve the deposits removes the unattractive effects of pollution, these dissolve the deposits making it easer to wash off. We apply the chemical, leave it for 5 minutes and then thoroughly rinse the surface with cold water. The process may need to be repeated two or three times on particularly blackened areas.
The effect of this process is dramatic. We are so used to seeing the effects of pollution in London that we forget that brick and stone can provide very attractive colour to our streets. Bringing these colours out from behind the grey really transforms the appearance of a property.
This process does not damage the brick or solid pointing, as sand-blasting does
